Its favourable geographical position facilitated the participation of Biarescie in international trade. The most important trade routes in wooded and marshy Paliessie were the waterways. The city was at the confluence of two ancient trade routes that went through the lands of the Eastern Slavs in Poland, the Baltics, and Western Europe. One of them went along the Zachodni Buh river, the other, which came from the east, was connected through the Muchaviec River to the Pina and Prypiać rivers.
