The archaeological museum “Biarescie” is a unique and the world's only museum of an East Slavic medieval city. Located on the site of the most ancient part of the city – the inner city of ancient Biarescie, discovered and studied in 1968–1981 by archaeologists from the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR under the guidance of Doctor of Historical Sciences Piotr Lysienka. The basis for the creation of the museum was the discovered well-preserved wooden buildings of the ХІІІ century. The original museum pavilion built of concrete, glass and aluminum resembles an ancient dwelling with layers of soil that allow visitors to get a glimpse into the depths of the ХІІІ century. The museum’s opening took place on March 2, 1982.
